Made in Harlow

This directory of manufacturing companies is designed to highlight the fact that Harlow does have a lot of companies which successfully manufacture.  It’s a common misconception that manufacturing in the UK has declined almost to nothing. This site corrects that view, at least for Harlow and West Essex.

Harlow Enterprise Zone

Current plans for the growth and regeneration of Harlow focus on high tech industries such as IT and life sciences.  These will increase the number of different products that are “made in Harlow”.  The best example of these plans is the implementation of the Harlow Enterprise Zone.

The Enterprise Zone is creating 3 projects:

• Harlow Science Park: 50,00 sq m of new build on a greenfield site
• Kao Park: 32,000 sq m data centre and 20,000 sq m offices, on a brownfield site, the old STC/Nortel campus
• Templefields: the redevelopment of 80,000 sq m of existing industrial estate

Kao Park

Kao Park is now running at a very high occupancy level, with very little available space.  The site’s owners say it combines Grade A office accommodation and a state-of-the-art data centre to create a unique proposition for occupiers seeking a next generation campus.  The opening of M11 Junction 10a has made road access to the park quicker, especially in peak hours.

Clients include multinational publishing and education company Pearson, who moved from older offices near Harlow railway station.  There are 2 NHS trusts on site: the Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, who moved in 2021, and  the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, moved in 2020.
