The manufacturing sector in Harlow is diverse, innovative and thriving.  It covers everything from aerospace to windows.  All the companies benefit from Harlow’s position on the M11 corridor linking London to Cambridge.  Harlow is close to both London and Cambridge, and a lot cheaper than them both.  It benefits from the good communications links between Stansted Airport and Central London.

Harlow has a history of innovation: fibre optic cable was invented here by Kao and Hockham at the at Standard Telecommunication Laboratories (STL) science centre.

If you are looking to move into Harlow then the Enterprise Zone may be able to help. They are developing Harlow Science Park on the base of the old STL site.  It offers 14 hectares of greenfield land with planning consent for a 50,000 sq m Science Park, which is under construction. Harlow council describe it as a “Premier business location for advanced manufacturing, life sciences and medical technology businesses, located along the UK’s Innovation Corridor.”
